Pollinate the Nation

I watched a bee pollinate a squash blossom in our garden this morning. I’m not gonna lie — it almost made me cry to see such beauty, simplicity, and organically healthy behavior taking place while the world of humans runs in circles trying to fix itself.

Left alone, to do what she was created to do — to be a bee and not to claim she is an eagle because that’s what she feels like, or demand that someone else do the work for her — her world works and her life make sense. She does her part and she plays her seemingly small role but because she does it — diligently, quietly, busily, happily — there is peace, there is prosperity, there is beauty, and there is balance in her wider world, thanks to her meaningful but mostly hidden morning labor. She matters! And her male counterparts hanging out at the hive matter! Our garden that helps to sustain us — and them— would not survive without all of us working together.

If I could have kissed this bee, I would have! We are a team, the bees and me. Left alone, to do what we each do, we will thrive together. If only we — Conservative and Liberal Americans alike — could live our lives peacefully, being and doing what we were each created to be and to do — we could all get back to the basics of LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF INDIVIDUAL HAPPINESS regardless of our size, shape, color, gender, age, and beliefs. Together, we could quickly find our way out of this complicated mess.

Bee well, America!
